How to create a slider that compares two images

Overview

We have to follow the steps below to create a slider for the comparison of two images:

Step 1: Add HTML

Explanation

  • Line 1: We’ll create a div and call the styling for the div.

  • Line 2–4: We’ll create a div for the first image. Here, we’ll provide the link for the first image and call the styling of the div.

  • Line 5–7: We’ll create a div for the second image. Here, we’ll provide the link for the first image and call the styling of the div.

Step 2: Add CSS

  • Lines 3–6: We’ll create the styling for the image container.

  • Lines 8–17: We’ll create the styling for the images to compare their images.

  • Line 19–28: We’ll create the styling for the slider to compare the two images.

Step 3: Add JavaScript

  • Line 1: We’ll create a function compare to compare images.

  • Line 3: We’ll find all the elements with the overlay class.

  • Lines 4–6: We’ll pass the elements as a parameter while comparing the images.

  • Lines 9–10: We’ll get the height and width of the images.

  • Line 11: We’ll set the width of the image to 50 percent.

  • Lines 13–17: We’ll create a slider and position it in the middle.

  • Lines 19–30: These are the functions for the slider operation.

  • Lines 31–38: These are the functions to perform the operations when the slider is moved.

  • Lines 39–46: These are the functions to calculate the coordinates of the image.

  • Lines 47–50: These are the functions to position the image and set the slider accordingly.
