Overview

The char.chararray.copy() method in Python is used to return a copy of an input array, where the char.chararray is replaced by the input array.

Syntax

char.chararray.copy(order='C')
Syntax for the char.chararray.copy() method

Parameter value

The char.chararray.copy() method takes order as its parameter value. This parameter represents the type of memory layout for the copy. It takes any of the "C", "A" , "K" and "F" orders.

  • F : The copy of the data is in a single, Fortran-style order
  • C: The copy of the data is in a single, C-style order.
  • A: The data and all its elements are ordered appropriately for the hardware.
  • K: The copy of the data is in a single, K-style order.

Return value

The char.chararray.copy() method returns a copy of the input array.

Example

import numpy as np
# creating the input array
a = np.array(["Theo", "10", "Numpy", "YES", "1", "and"])
# copying the input array using the char.chararray.copy() method
myarray = a.copy(order='F')
print(myarray)
Implementing the char.chararray.copy() method

Explanation

  • Line 1: We import the numpy module.
  • Line 4: We create an input array a using the array() function.
  • Line 7: We implement the char.chararray.copy() method on the input array using the "F" order memory layout for the copy. The result is assigned to a variable myarray.
  • Line 9: We print the array myarray.
Note: In the code above, the array (a) is a replacement for char.charray.
