Overview

The numpy.nextafter() function in NumPy computes the next floating-point value after value of x1 , towards another value of x2, element-wise.

Syntax

numpy.nextafter(x1, x2, /, out=None, *, where=True)
Syntax for the "numpy.nextafter()" function

Parameter values

The numpy.nextafter()  function takes the following parameter values:

  • x1(required): This represents the input array of values to which the next representable value is to be returned.
  • x2(required): This represents a given direction where the next representable value of the array x1 is to be looked for.
  • out(optional): This represents the location where the result is stored.
  • where(optional): This is the condition over which the input is being broadcast. At a given location where this condition is True, the resulting array will be set to the ufunc result. Otherwise, the resulting array will retain its original value.
  • **kwargs(optional): This represents other keyword arguments.

Example

import numpy as np
# creating input arrays
x1 = (2)
x2 = (4)
# implementing the ldexp() function
myarray = np.nextafter(x1, x2)
print(myarray)
Syntax for the "numpy.nexrafter()" function

Explanation

  • Line 1: We import the numpy module.
  • Line 4-5: We create input arrays x1 and x2.
  • Line 7: We implement the numpy.nextafter() function on the input arrays. We assign the result to a variable myarray.
  • Line 9: We print the variable myarray to the console.
