Announcing Educative's Technical Writing Competition

Educative’s Blog and Edpresso are joining together for an exciting, new Technical Writing Competition.

Participants can submit either an Edpresso shot or Op Ed blog article. The winners will be featured on Edpresso or the Educative Blog and win free subscriptions to Educative Unlimited. Your content will be seen by over 1 million monthly readers!

At Educative, we believe that technical writing is of the utmost importance. Every developer should build their writing skills. This is a great opportunity to showcase your skills and get your name out there as an excellent technical writer.

Sign ups will be cut-off at 50 people for each portion of the competition, so be sure to sign up soon!

How it works

If you want to participate in the Technical Writing Competition (and you should), here what to do:

1. Create a free Educative account
2. Sign up for the competition at this link. Sign up closes April 1st.
3. When you go to sign up, you will choose to write either an Edpresso shot or an Op Ed article.
4. Within a week, you will be sent an email with the deadlines and a writing guide.
5. Submit your article or shot by the deadline, April 14th.

Submission Overview

The process for submitting either an Edpresso shot or an Op Ed Article is slightly different. Let’s break it down.

	Edpresso Shot	Op Ed Article
Submission Process	You may submit one shot as an individual or a team. You will follow the Edpresso Competition Guidelines (sent by email). April 1st is the last day to sign up for the competition. Edpresso shots are due April 14th. Submissions will be cut off at 50 people, so sign up soon.	You may submit one article as an individual. No teams accepted. 	Edpresso Shot	Op Ed Article
Submission Content	Edpresso shots are short, purely technical bits of knowledge, much like a dictionary entry. They do not express your opinion or experiences. For example: How to concentrate strings in C++?	Your Op Ed article should be a personal piece that expresses your opinion/experience with something in the industry. For example: 10 projects I did as a new developer and what I learned.

Content Review	Edpresso shots will be reviewed by a panel for their accuracy and overall contribution to the community. The panel will assess your technical prowess and ability to teach technical content effectively.	Op Ed articles will be reviewed by a panel for their thoughtfulness, writing quality, and overall contribution to the community. The panel will assess the quality of your writing and ability to convey opinions effectively.

	Edpresso Shot	Op Ed Article
Prizes	All shots will be edited and published to Edpresso. After one week, the top 3 shots with the most views will be announced as the winners. The 1st place winner(s) will be awarded a free, 1 year subscription to Educative Unlimited. The 2nd place winner(s) will be awarded a free, 6 month subscription to Educative Unlimited. The 3rd place winner(s) will be awarded a free 3 month subscription to Educative Unlimited.	After the review process, the top article will be edited and published to the blog under your name. 2nd and 3rd place winners will be published in a joint article. The 1st place winner will be awarded a free, 1 year subscription to Educative Unlimited. The 2nd place winner will be awarded a free, 6 month subscription to Educative Unlimited. The 3rd place winner will be awarded a free 3 month subscription to Educative Unlimited.
