This course will walk you through Twilio's communication APIs. Twilio provides a link between the internet and telecom networks. Developers can use Twilio to add communication to their applications programmatically. This, for example, includes programmable messaging (including SMS and WhatsApp) and programmable voice. Additionally, Twilio's Verify API allows the integration of user verification into your applications.

We must first join the Sandbox to send or receive WhatsApp messages from the Sandbox. To do this, send the message ***join \<your Sandbox keyword\>*** to WhatsApp Sandbox number **+1-415-523-8886**. Our Sandbox keyword is a unique string that can be found on the [WhatsApp Sandbox](https://www.twilio.com/console/sms/whatsapp/sandbox) page, as shown below:
