This course has been designed to introduce you to a field of programming you might have never been exposed to. In this course, you’ll learn everything you need to know to start working with genetic algorithms. As you work through the course, you’ll build a framework for problems using genetic algorithms. By the end, you’ll have a full-featured, customizable framework complete with statistics, genealogy tracking, and more, and you’ll have learned everything you need to solve practical problems with genetic algorithms.

## Creating a tetris agent

Before we can get started evolving Tetris agents, we need to download a copy of an Atari 2600 Tetris ROM. Fortunately, the ALE repo offers the official [Tetris ROM](https://github.com/seanmor5/alex/blob/master/priv/tetris.bin). Atari 2600 ROMs are also available from a number of websites. If the contents of a ROM are of concern, the checksums of supported ROMs are accessible [here](https://hexdocs.pm/alex/supported-roms.html#content).

> **Note:** This has already been done for you in this course.  

Once `tetris.bin` is downloaded, create a new folder named `priv` and place `tetris.bin` into it. Next, in `tetris.exs`, create a new problem:
