In this section, we explored various scales for drawing charts. Every scale has its use, and we encountered scenarios that required different scales. What might work for one chart might not work for another. It is always good to experiment with various scales.

It is important to remember the difference between continuous and discrete data. Knowing what type of data you’re working with allows you to narrow down the choices of what scales to use. The number of viable scales can be whittled down if you know you need discrete or continuous data. By understanding these two concepts, you would not have a hard time learning new scales.

We did not have the opportunity to explore every scale. There are so many more scales available. This section was meant to introduce you to some of the scales and help you understand why there are different scales. We will be exploring other scales throughout the course. Do not worry; you will get plenty of chances to try other scales.
