Introduction to AI

With the dawn of AI in the 1950s, the term “machine learning” was coined, and major breakthroughs occurred in the field of pattern recognition with early developments toward computer vision and natural language processing (NLP)-focused theory and applications. The underlying phenomenon presented in these advancements involved learning from the data and taking inspiration from the functional units in the mammalian brain (i.e., neurons).
