Periodic Message, Renormalisation, Significant

This lesson introduces the following analysis patterns: periodic message block, renormalization, and significant interval.

Periodic message block

Periodic message block pattern is similar to periodic error but not limited to errors or failure reports. We recently encountered a situation in which some adjoint activity (such as messages from specific PID, adjoint thread) stopped appearing after the middle of the trace. This was followed by repeated blocks of similar messages (message invariant) from different PIDs whose threads checked for some condition (for example, wait for an event and report timeouts).
