How to Delete a Git Repository from Microsoft Azure Repos

Amaaz Ahmad

Azure Repos is a set of version control systems (VCS) provided under the flag of Microsoft Azure DevOps. The objective of a version control system is to track changes in our project. One of the most popular version control systems is Git.

Azure Repos allows us to create unlimited private Git repositories.

To delete a Git repository, we need to complete the following steps:

  1. From the main menu, select the Repos option.
  2. Select Files under Repos.
  1. Click the drop-down arrow in the top bar.
  2. Select Manage Repositories.
  1. Click on the name of the repository to be deleted
  2. Click the symbol.
  3. Select Delete Repository
  1. We will have to re-write the name of the repository to confirm its deletion.

Note that we can not delete a repository from Azure Repos if only the Git repository is present. Moreover, we need suitable permissions to delete a repository.
