What is anaconda?

Anaconda is a free, open-source distribution of Python and R. It is available on Windows, Linux, and macOS. Anaconda focuses on providing its users with data science tools and packages by maintaining a package manager called conda. When you initially install anaconda, it comes with several pre-installed data science libraries. However, if the need arises, the user can open the CMD.exe Prompt inside anaconda and download the required package with the conda command:

conda install {packageName}

Depending on your needs, select the appropriate options. If you have more than one user on your system and all of them want to use anaconda localhost, then opt for the All Users option. Otherwise, stick with the recommended “Just Me” option.

To select the directory where all the files of anaconda will be installed, click on Browse and select an empty folder. The installation will not continue if you do not select an empty folder – by default, it is installed in the User/Home directory.
