Cryptocurrencies are continually executing new functionalities. To make those new functionalities effective, they should initially guarantee that they won’t harm the working of the leading blockchain. This is where the job of a testnet starts.
A testnet is an essential tool for cryptocurrency improvement. Through this kind of network, engineers can complete tests without compromising the leading network’s proper working.
A faucet is a web-based service that gives free tokens to clients of the testnet who run a stake pool or other hub.
We will use the MetaMask extension to request funds from a testnet faucet using the following steps.
Note: Remember, here we are using the Google Chrome browser.
On the right side, tap on the three dots, and select “Expand the view” for better perception.
Note: If this drop-down menu doesn’t appear, click on “Add Network.” A MetaMask settings page will appear. Select “Advanced” from the settings and scroll down to “Show test Networks.” Toggle the switch to “ON,” and repeat Step 2. Now, you will see the drop-down menu. Click “MetaMask” on the top left corner.
Congrats! We have successfully requested funds from a testnet faucet.
