**`winreg`** (Windows Registry API) provides functions to expose the Windows Registry API to Python. We use this module to expose a low-level interface to the registry.

# LoadKey

The method **`LoadKey`** is one of the functions of the `winreg` module. We use this to create a subkey under a given key.

This method takes a `file_name` as a parameter. This file contains the registration information. This information is also written into the subkey from the file.

> It is important for processes to have the `SE_RESTORE_PRIVILEGE` privilege; otherwise, calling the `LoadKey()` method fails.

LoadKey(key, sub_key, file_name)
```
## Parameters

**`key`**: The handle which is returned by ConnectRegistry(), including the constants in `HKEY_USERS` or `HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE`.

**`sub_key`**: The string which is loaded under the key as the subkey.

**`file_name`**: The file which contains the registry data. This file generally exists without any extension in the File Allocation table.
