This module briefly covers OOAD, including a quick refresher of OOP basic building blocks such as encapsulation, abstraction, inheritance, and polymorphism, followed by object-oriented design principles, design patterns, and real-world problem-solving. By the end of this module, we’ll know how these building blocks can be utilized to design real-world software systems, such as a meeting scheduler and a restaurant management system.

- Maintainability

All of these are important in their own right and, at times, these requirements conflict with each other. Which one of these should be given the highest priority?

Several studies indicate that the cost of software maintenance contributes approximately two-thirds of the total lifetime cost of software projects. Therefore, unless otherwise explicitly required, maintainability takes precedence over other considerations.
