Node.js is a popular JavaScript runtime environment used to create server-side applications. It is an ideal tool for building robust, full stack web applications with React. 

This module is an introduction to web development leveraging these two popular technologies. We'll learn server-side applications with Node.js and learn to add database functionality with MongoDB fitting into the Express application framework. We'll then build a user authorization system using the JSON Web Token (JWT). We'll then focus on a client-side environment built with React. We'll build a sample application to get familiar with the framework before styling the application and adding necessary user-interaction elements. We'll wrap up by tying the frontend and backend together and deploying our web application with Heroku. 

By the end of this module, we'll be prepared to build real-world websites using the most popular JavaScript tools.

# Summary

In this module,  we got a comprehensive introduction to web development using the MERN stack. We started by covering server-side applications with Node.js and learned how to add database functionality with MongoDB and the Express application framework. Moving ahead, we learned how to create a user authorization system using the JSON Web Token (JWT). In the latter half of the module, we focussed on developing a client-side environment with React. Finally, we built a web application with the MERN framework and styled the application and added necessary user-interaction elements.
