Built on Chrome’s V8 JavaScript engine, Node.js is a runtime environment that enables JavaScript to run outside the browser. This course will help you learn the fundamentals of Node.js to build portable applications.

You’ll learn about the components and build patterns of Node.js. You’ll also explore the API to learn how to create modules and write code to unique data files. Moreover, you’ll delve into the features and practices of JavaScript and build a REST API using the Express framework from scratch. This will set up authentication tokens with Passport.js and JSON web tokens, and finally build a live trivia game with Socket.IO.

By the end of this course, you’ll be equipped with the extensive knowledge to build rich and comprehensive Node.js applications running on the server with JavaScript.
