By the end of the module, we'll be able to design a Kanban system.

Limiting WIP is probably the aspect of a Kanban adoption that generates the most resistance, but it is fundamental for designing a proper Kanban system.
Policies to control WIP can be set at different levels in a Kanban system. You can start by just defining a global WIP limit (CONWIP) or define WIP limits at activity level (columns), per work type, or also for
classes of service.
