Amazon Web Services (AWS) is the leading provider of cloud computing services and hosting solutions. Among the vast number of services offered by AWS, the Simple Storage Service (S3) is one of the mostly widely used. This storage service offers high reliability, durability, scalability, and availability when compared to any other storage service.

In this course, you’ll learn about AWS S3 and its features in detail. Not only will you learn how AWS S3 works, you’ll also get hands-on experience with AWS’ security features and how to monitor and manage an AWS-hosted storage solution. Every cloud provider supports the pay-as-you-go model, and AWS is no different.

In AWS S3, we only pay for what we use. The pricing majorly depends on six components as per AWS.

Let's have a look on these components in brief.


# S3 pricing components 
## Storage 
We’re charged for the amount of data stored depending on the storage duration and the storage class.

## Data retrieval
Requests used for data retrieval, such as `PUT`, `LIST`, `POST`, `GET`, `SELECT`, and so on, are chargeable by AWS.

## Data transfer
Data transferred to different AWS services, the internet, and so on is also chargeable by AWS.

## Management and analytics 
Storage analytics and services, such as Storage Lens, Batch Operations, and so on, are chargeable by AWS

## Replication 
Data replication to different AWS regions is also charged by AWS.

## S3 Object Lambda
With every `GET` request, if a Lambda function is executed using S3 Object Lambda, then the Lambda function execution and the data returned by S3 Object Lambda to the application are additionally charged by AWS.
