Dashboards and Organizational Policies
Learn how Windsurf dashboards provide individual insight and organizational oversight through usage analytics, credit tracking, and governance features.
We'll cover the following...
As you’ve progressed through this course, you’ve used Windsurf to build, refactor, test, and deploy applications at unimaginable speed. It feels productive, almost magical. But as you integrate AI more deeply into your daily work, a new set of professional questions arises: How much are you using it? Which features are providing the most value? How many prompt credits have you used this month? Using a powerful tool without understanding its impact can feel like working in a cocoon. A professional engineer, however, is accountable. They understand their tools, their impact, and their costs.
In this lesson, we will open that cocoon. We’ll begin by exploring your AI footprint, using the data and dashboards available to every Windsurf user. Then we will scale that perspective up, taking on the role of a team lead to see how these same concepts of monitoring and governance apply across an entire organization.
Your command center: The individual dashboard
Every Windsurf user, from Free to Enterprise, has access to a personal dashboard that provides a wealth of information about their usage. This isn’t just for curiosity; it’s a tool for self-reflection and improvement.

Understanding your stats
Let’s walk through the widgets on your dashboard, which tell the story of your collaboration with Windsurf.
Percentage of new code written by Windsurf: This is your headline productivity score. In the example, it’s a powerful 73 percent. This metric shows what percentage of your code is being assisted by Windsurf, combining the contributions from Cascade and Tab autocompletions. It’s the best at-a-glance measure of your AI adoption.
Total lines of code written by Cascade: This graph provides a detailed, day-by-day breakdown of code generation. Notice the crucial CASCADE/TAB toggle above the graph. This allows you to compare the heavy-lifting done by your agentic co-pilot (Cascade) with the line-by-line assistance from your autocompleter (Tab). It helps you answer the question: Am I using the AI for big tasks or small, incremental gains?
