Testing Learners: The Assessment Feature

Learn how the assessment tool can be used to test the skills of our learners.

An assessment is a set of questions that can be used to test the knowledge of learners. Think of it as a mini-exam that users can take. A course can contain multiple assessments.

Adding an assessment

An assessment can be added after any category. To create a new assessment, go to the collection editor and click the “Add Assessment” button. An “Untitled Assessment” will be created below the last category. Click on the edit icon to edit the assessment.

Editing an assessment

After clicking the “Edit Assessment” button shown above, you will be redirected to the assessment editor page. Here, you can:

  • Rename the assessment
  • Provide a short summary of what the assessment entails
  • Add assets (files, images, docker setup, etc.) that will be used in the assessment

Time Limit

If you want to make a timed assessment, you can use the “Time Limit” drop-down menu to set the duration between 15–120 minutes. The “No Limit” option can be used to make untimed assessments.

Max Attempts

This drop-down menu allows setting the maximum number of times (1-3) that a learner can attempt the assessment. The “No Limit” option can be used to allow unlimited attempts.

Once a learner has exhausted all their attempts, they’ll get reset after 1 week time interval.

Grading Criteria

An assessment can be graded or ungraded. If graded, you can select the type, whether letter or binary.
