Conclusion and Next Steps

Explore key concepts from the course on managing AI-powered UI features through explicit state machines, robust streaming handling, validation of model output, and recovery from failures. Understand how to design resilient AI interactions with trust boundaries and tooling to ensure reliability, then learn next steps for extending these foundations in your own projects.

We started this course with a simple premise: an LLM response isn't a request/response pair, it's a turn, something that streams, can fail in new ways, and needs UI that accounts for both. Along the way we did more than read about that idea, we built the pieces of that turn ourselves, one concept at a time, on top of the same turnId-based reducer that carried through every chapter. This final lesson steps back to see the whole picture.

The journey we completed

We began with the foundations: how a deterministic API differs from a model that generates output over time, the canonical chat turn and the seven states a single turn can be in, failure modes like refusal, timeout, and network loss as first-class UI states, safe rendering of untrusted model text in React, and how to bring an AI coding assistant into your own workflow with verification guardrails rather than blind trust.
