Render Structured Output Through a Mapping Layer

Explore how to transform validated AI-generated JSON into safe, constrained UI components through a mapping layer. Learn to enforce runtime contracts, handle unknown fields, and provide fallback UI to ensure robust rendering of structured outputs.

A validated object is safe to trust. It is not yet safe to render, and that's a different guarantee this lesson has to build. The parseAndValidate function from the last lesson can confirm a buffer is valid, but validity alone does not decide how those fields end up on the screen. A naive renderer takes parsed JSON and pushes fields straight into the DOM. In a cards UI, that usually looks like iterating cards and printing title, filePath, and a list of action into JSX, then noticing that a single overlong string can blow up layout and that a value that looks like markup tempts you to render rich text, quietly, with nothing else in the app signaling that anything went wrong.

If the renderer treats model provided fields as HTML, event ...
