Command Palette and Settings

Learn how to customize Visual Studio Code by using commands found in the command palette.

Commands and the command palette

There’s a lot to do in VS Code. This is especially true if you have installed a lot of extensions. You can control a lot of functionality via the typical File, Edit, and View menus at the top but not everything. The easiest way to make things happen in VS Code is via commands found in the command palette. The command palette is a menu that appears at the top of the screen when you go up to the View menu and select Command Palette or you hit Ctrl-Shift-P on your keyboard. In the following screenshot, you can see an example of the command palette.
