Clusters in the Cloud

How does the cloud help?

Previously, we discussed how the cloud computing model offers significant advantages over the traditional one. Most of the benefits apply to clustering as well. Let's discuss how cloud computing helps us create and operate computer clusters.

Virtualization

Traditionally, setting up a cluster meant procuring the hardware and all the challenges that come with it. This resulted in more upfront costs and increased ongoing operational costs. In the cloud computing model, we use virtualization, which means we can easily and quickly create as small or as big a cluster as we need with the help of some APIs and a bunch of configurations—no more dealing with hardware issues.
