Space has long captured our imaginations and is a large factor in many developer stories and interest in technology. This course will help you explore space using NASA’s public data archives. You’ll first set up an account to generate a unique API key. You’ll then walk through five different APIs. The Asteroid NeoWs API will help you retrieve data about near-earth asteroids. Turn your gaze from space back to Earth by using the EONET API to retrieve data regarding hazardous and the EPIC API to retrieve color images of Earth. Next, you’ll pull surface photos of Mars using the Mars Rover Photo API before pulling images and metadata for NASA’s photo of the day using the APOD API and any other media from using the Image and Video Library API. You’ll finish your exploration of space by bundling all of your astronomical data and photos into a fully functional Django application. By the end of this course, you’ll have a working knowledge of NASA’s various APIs and the ability to explore space in an application.
