Devin Balkcom

Devin Balkcom is a professor in the Computer Science department at Dartmouth college; his primary research area is robotics. Balkcom designed and teaches Dartmouth's CS 1 course, and co-wrote the Khan Academy Algorithms Tutorials with Tom Cormen.


ABOUT ME

Balkcom is an associate professor in the Computer Science department at Dartmouth college; his primary research area is robotics. Balkcom graduated with a Ph.D. in robotics from Carnegie Mellon University in 2004, was awarded an NSF CAREER grant in 2006, the Dartmouth McLane Family Fellowship in 2010, and the Dartmouth John M. Manley Huntington Award in 2010. At Dartmouth, Balkcom has taught classes including Introduction to Computer Science, Software Design and Implementation, Artificial Intelligence, and Robotics. Balkcom led the design of Dartmouth's Computer Science 1 course, which teaches problem-solving with Python programming, basic algorithms, and data structures. For several years, Balkcom offered a summer robotics camp for middle-school and high-school students.
