Hanno Kolvenbach

I've worked in various engineering roles and management, so I know both sides of the fence. I like sharing my knowledge of cloud technologies and embedded systems using real-world examples.

ABOUT ME

My career in software development started very early with writing my first applications in Visual Basic at the age of 14. Since then, I have worked in industrial automation, robotics, cloud computing, embedded system, and IoT, bridging low-level technology stacks with high-level cloud technology. I have followed the industry shifting from hand-crafted "snowflake" servers to fully automated server fleets using modern DevOps like Docker, Terraform, and AWS CDK. I also have contributed to open-source projects like Eclipse Che, one of the first cloud IDEs. While diving into new technologies, I often had the feeling that available resources use examples that are too simple and fall short of real-world applications, and I decided to become an author myself teaching modern technology by using more complex end-to-end examples.
