LEARNING OBJECTIVES
  • Identify common AI use patterns in DoD and Federal workflows.
  • Determine what information can be used with AI and verify authorized environments.
  • Apply the five DoD Responsible AI principles to decision-making processes.
  • Apply the NIST AI RMF and document a defensible AI use decision.
  • Recognize key GenAI risks, including hallucinations, prompt injection, and data leakage.
  • Design appropriate human oversight, accountability, and escalation controls.
KEY OUTCOMES
Make Defensible AI Decisions

Apply a structured decision-making framework to determine when and how to use AI in DoD and federal contexts.

Manage GenAI Risks Effectively

Identify and mitigate GenAI risks such as hallucinations and data leakage, ensuring safe AI deployment in sensitive operations.

Establish Robust Oversight Mechanisms

Create and implement oversight routines that ensure accountability and traceability in AI outputs and decisions.

Document AI Use and Controls

Compile comprehensive documentation that tracks AI usage, controls, and decision-making processes for compliance and review.

Why choose this course?

AI Risks Are Real and Growing

As AI becomes integral to DoD and Federal work, the stakes are high. Missteps can lead to serious consequences, from compromised data to flawed decision-making that impacts missions and lives.

Navigating Complex AI Challenges

Even experienced professionals struggle with AI's unpredictable nature. Without a solid understanding of its risks and implications, decisions can be made based on assumptions, leading to costly errors.

Master AI Decision-Making Frameworks

This course equips you with practical tools to assess AI use, apply DoD principles, and create a defensible AI Decision and Oversight Packet, ensuring responsible and accountable AI integration in your workflows.

ABOUT THIS COURSE
AI is becoming a routine part of Department of Defense (DoD) and federal work, including ranked alert queues, resupply forecasts, generated briefings, and vendor-supported AI services. These outputs can appear complete and authoritative before anyone has examined how the model produced the output, which data or source material it relies on, whether the environment is authorized, or who is accountable if the output is incorrect. This course teaches DoD and federal personnel, along with the contractors who support them, how to make defensible decisions about when, where, and how AI should be used. No prior AI or machine learning background is required. You'll learn to identify common AI use patterns, identify the people, systems, and operations that could be affected, and make an initial GO, CONDITIONAL-GO, NO-GO, or ESCALATE decision. From there, you'll assess the data and information the system uses, verify the authorized environment, apply the five DoD Responsible AI principles, define appropriate human review and decision authority, and manage risk using the National Institute of Standards and Technology AI Risk Management Framework (NIST AI RMF). The course also covers GenAI-specific risks, including hallucinations, prompt injection, data leakage, insecure outputs, and provenance and supply-chain concerns, along with the testing, monitoring, records-management, and acquisition practices needed to manage them. By the end, you'll produce a traceable AI Decision and Oversight Packet that documents the use case, controls, supporting evidence, accountable owners, and criteria for proceeding, stopping, or escalating. The packet is based on documented evidence rather than assumptions.

These are high-quality courses. Trust me the price is worth it for the content quality. Educative came at the right time in my career. I'm understanding topics better than with any book or online video tutorial I've done. Truly made for developers. Thanks
