Scrum
Learn why Scrum is the most popular agile framework, and when to use it to best effect.
We'll cover the following
What is Scrum?
The Scrum framework consists of a set of practices, ceremonies, and artifacts and is optimized for delivering value when objectives are well understood and valued above specific features and outputs. It favors timeboxing, or committing to focus on a problem for a fixed amount of time, rather than committing to delivering a specific set of features and functionality. These time-boxed increments are called sprints, and in most organizations they last for 2–4 weeks. At the end of each sprint, feedback is gathered and used to inform how to accomplish the product goals and objectives.
Scrum is popular because it is flexible, adaptive, and promotes teamwork. It is based on the principles of transparency, inspection, and adaptation, which enable teams to quickly identify and address problems, and make improvements on an ongoing basis. Additionally, Scrum is widely supported by a large and active community, with many resources available for learning and implementation.
