Cynefin and Software Challenges

Cynefin is an interesting and useful sense-making framework, and all five domains apply to problems outside of software. As shown in the illustration below, however, the Chaotic and Obvious domains don’t apply at the whole-project level for the reasons I described in the previous lesson. That means, for practical purposes, software projects should orient themselves as being mostly in the Complicated, Complex, or Disorder domain (and Disorder will ultimately resolve to Complicated, Complex, or a combination of the two).
